CONTINENTAL GIANT SHOWS

HOME OF CONTI-CON

The one and only Continental Giant Rabbit Convention in USA

Conti-Con 8: Saturday, June 8th 2024

This year we are honored to host the 8th annual Continental Giant Show at “The Shelter” located at 995 State Route 503, West Alexandria, Ohio. The private venue has multiple offers which include but are not limited to primitive-style camping at the venue site, a playground for children with a basketball court, an on-site kitchen, bathrooms, a very large shelter with lots of space and multiple electrical hookups at the shelter for use during the show. Additionally, the location is easy to find, and cellphone reception tends to be very good there.

The show will begin promptly at 12:30pm as we welcome guests/exhibitors. From there, we will move forward with introductions, educational presentations, judging, and awards. Following the award presentation, for all those who register and are participating in the show are then invited to join our team for a catered-in dinner. This dinner is free but donations will be gratefully accepted.

We will be offering a separate area for a photo booth, vendors, and raffle tables, next to the show area this year. This will allow for much for visiting, meeting others, shopping, and checking out all the amenities we will be offering.

We encourage anyone and everyone interested in learning about and promoting the Continental Giant to attend our show. We warmly welcome pet owners, breeders, and those who raise/breed for show-purposes. We do not disqualify any rabbit during the exhibition; so if your Conti has an issue or is spayed/neutered, and even if it is a Conti cross-breed, which has a show division of their own, bring and enter them anyway. There is no entry fee to show the rabbits.

In addition to the traditional Continental Giant Show, this year we are also pleased to be offering a “Specialty Costume Contest” for Youth (under 16yrs of age) and those with development challenges. To participate, the exhibitor will be expected to dress like their favorite continental giant rabbit. Our amazing judge, Keith E. Brown, will judge these rabbits and each participant will receive a placement award.

…. Registration for the show will officially begin aprox mid-March to early April 2024 and will remain open until June 1st. Please check back to get other rules and regulations closer to those dates.

See you in June!!

Conti-Con 7

The 7th Annual Continental Giant Rabbit Convention was held June 10th, 2023. This was the largest Conti show ever held in this country, and stands as our largest show, to date. With over 80 guests in attendance, we really packed out the venue as guests came from as far away as Canada, Washington, Vermont, & Louisiana. We were also honored with hosting an RHVD2 Vaccination clinic – offered by our own group vet, Dr. Kelly Thompson.

The show offered 2x as many vendor spots as there was in the previous years, and racked in a total of 8 raffles tables full of wonderful items for everyone to put their dibs on, in addition to the silent auction which included 5 giant bunnies and many other large items. As you will also see from all the beautiful smiling faces in the photos, the “Stuffy Specialty Show” for youth and special needs individuals was also an enormous hit.

For all of the fun, success, and education delivered in this event, we want to give a huge shout out to every person who attended, sponsored, supported and made it what it was – a great time had by all. And now, to give credits where due… the show was hosted by Eva & Bobby Wells, with the assistance of Renate Strosahl, Katie Millard, Gary Thompson, Sandy Zeigler, Jane Schriener, Ashley Merideth, and Judge Keith Brown. Others who pitched in were Dustin Klinger – the Event Caterer, and Krissy Sinnett, Jaymie Turrull, Mariellen & Curtis Horstmeier, Dean Schocker, Misty Ulm, and Brandon Armstrong… (please forgive me if I failed to mention your name – its’ not intentional). Then, last but not least, we wish to give many thanks to the Nature Center and Park Staff at Hueston Woods State Park of College Corner, Ohio for sharing such a beautiful park and allowing us to use the facilities there. Plus a big thanks to Sarah @ the Nature Center for all the extra leg work it took to make this happen.

Conti-Con 6

The 2022 Continental Giant Rabbit Convention was held Saturday, May 28th, 2022, in East Moline, Illinois; hosted by Renate Strosahl, along with Bobby & Eva Wells, and Keith Brown with the assistance of Sandy Zeigler and Gary Thompson. This years show was spectacular! Every year, our show team stretches our imaginations and limits to continually create and provide improvements to our guests. This year was no exception. The decor was fabulous, the food was amazing (and my goodness, was there a LOT), plus all those in attendance have raved over the educational value, fun, mentorship, and new friendships that were made.

We want to sincerely say thank you to those who braved the near $5.00 gas rates, holiday traffic, and personal scheduling issues to remain committed in supporting our show through their live/in-person participation. Additionally, we would like to properly thank all those who participated in our annual online show-auction (February – May 2022) to raise funds to pay for building rentals, event insurance, show supplies, awards, and lots of other expenses involved in hosting such a show. The link to the auction can be found on the group page, or on the event page. As always, we welcome anyone to join us, so long as respect is given and maintained.

~ Hope to see you next year for Conti-Con 7, to be held June 10, 2023 @ Hueston Woods State Park in College Corner, OH.

Note: We reserve all rights to make any changes deemed necessary for the betterment of the group, the goals deemed most important, and the welfare of the rabbits.

Conti-Con 4

The fourth show was originally set for September 26, 2020 in Springfield, OH. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the RHVD2 conditional risks, the show was restructured and later rescheduled for September 27th, 2020 in Camden, OH. Rather than risk the health of people or animals, the choice was made to do the show as an Educational Live-Video Show created and hosted by the admin of the group: Bob and Eva Wells, Keith Brown, Stefanie Smith, Jane Schreiner, and Renate Strosahl. This choice of an educational video was unanimously agreed upon in place of the annual competition because we all firmly believe there is no fair and accurate way to correctly judge any animal for competition by viewing it on a video or with photographs, as it is entirely too easy for a “good camera-person” to know “all the right angles” to give the illusion of a bigger, better quality animal that what they may actually have, thus unjustly hindering the win of a person who may have a better animal but, due to lack of camera skill, would not place as well. Additionally, this restructuring offered the ability of those who otherwise could not had made the trip for the show to be able to view the video from the group page, at any time, and it still may be watched by members of the Continental Giants in USA Face-Book group.
